The whole idea of Shop Alt is built on creating a fashion marketplace that focuses on sharing by giving your preloved clothes a second chance.

We all have many clothes in our closets that we don’t wear, but what happens to them? A lot of it is likely wasted – and any waste is quite harmful to our environment. In India, for generations, clothes have been passed down as part of our culture. It’s an emotional feeling deeply ingrained in us. We want to enable this culture by being the marketplace that enables everyone to share their wardrobe and one which stands for more sharing and less wasting.
We aim to be an alternate community of buyers and creators who are united by a common love for thrifting. We want to activate circular fashion and be a marketplace that’s all about giving everyone a different shopping experience. For us, it’s about connecting like-minded people and enabling them to share the things they like with the whole world.

Shop Alt has been a long-standing dream of Tarini and Priya. While studying together, they noticed that the Western world had a concept of thrifting, but it did not exist in India. They believed that Indians loved sharing and that the feeling of sharing had been a value system for the people of India for many centuries. The whole notion struck a chord with them and kicked off the groundwork for Shop Alt.
